Musashi announces 2018 dates

Horipro has announced the 2018 dates for their reprisal of Yukio Ninagawa’s Musashi.

The story, which revolves around the famous swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, was penned by Hisashi Inoue more than 20 years ago. He had hoped to turn it into a Broadway musical, but the dream was never realized. Three years prior, Inoue worked with Ninagawa for the first time on a different play (Shakespeare in the 12th Year of Tempo), and they eventually decided to team up again to take “Musashi” to the stage. The two swordsmen had a famous duel in 1612, during which Sasaki was defeated and killed.

Tatsuya has starred in four variations of this production since 2009, each time Tatsuya acted alongside a different co-star (Shun Oguri (2009), Ryo Katsuji (2010) and Junpei Mizobata (2013-14 & 2018).

The production will tour around Japan throughout February – March and finish with special performances in Shanghai at the end of March.
